NECT fights Covid-19 fraudsters

Carlo Ulbrich, Co-Founder and CSO of NECT

The Covid-19 pandemic is burdening the economy. Many micro-enterprises and solo self-employed persons in germany are dependent on emergency government aid to avoid insolvency. Applications for this can be filled out and sent online to ensure that help is provided as quickly as possible. This procedure however, also attracts fraudsters to the scene: in recent weeks, copies of online applications were made and data was tapped by phishing with the aim of subsequently submitting the fake application with a modified payout account. This poses challenges for banks and authorities because personal consultation and examination of the applicant is not possible due to the current situation.

We are proud that our portfolio company NECT, with its Selfie Ident-procedure, is supporting the Hamburgische Investitions- und Förderbank (IFB) in this situation to quickly transfer the emergency aid to those who urgently need it.
