EdTech startup TukToro secures €2.5m from top investors for AI-powered math learning
Berlin, June 18, 2025 - Berlin-based EdTech startup a2zebra has raised around 2.5 million euros in a seed financing round. The capital will go towards the further development of TukToro, an interactive, digital-haptic math learning toy. The primary focus is on expanding AI-supported learning content through the specially developed TukOS software. This will enable faster, more diverse, and more personalised content creation – tailored to the needs of a new generation of learners.

The new investors include Dieter von Holtzbrinck Ventures (DvH Ventures), Simon Capital, the Schadeberg Family Office, IBB Ventures, Angel Invest and the Falk Family Office (Just Spices founder, Florian Falk). The financing round also includes a significant increase in the investment by Toniebox founders Patric Faßbender and Marcus Stahl, who have been supporting the company as investors since February 2024.
“TukToro creates a playful and fear-free environment in which children experience math as something positive - free from pressure to perform and characterized by curiosity.”
The individual learning approach and the combination of digital and haptic play help parents and teachers to get children interested in math at an early age. The PISA results in Germany highlight the importance of this: one in three children does not even reach the minimum standard in math.
A large proportion of the new funding is being invested in developing AI-supported content with the internal TukOS software. The first learning content has already been successfully created using it. The AI enables faster, more targeted and more differentiated didactic creation. Dr. Friedrich Droste from Simon Capital is also convinced: 'Mathematical education is the key to the next generation. With TukToro and its playful approach, it is possible to convey this subject matter in a modern way — AI-supported scaling is a decisive step.”
“Together with our partners, we aim to transform the way children around the world learn: making it playful, hands-on and personalised.”
While the non-verbal, haptic TukToro toy can be used internationally, the accompanying TukToro app is currently only available in German and focused on serving children and families in Germany and Austria. TukToro is available for 79.99 euros in the online store at www.tuktoro.com as well as in selected book and toy stores such as Korbmayer, Baby Kochs and Betzold. Further retail partners will follow.
