A full circle: moneymeets joins the Provinzial Group
The News. Our long-standing portfolio company moneymeets will become part of the Provinzial Group, Germany's second-largest public insurer. The acquisition strengthens Provinzial's Bancassurance business and positions moneymeets at the heart of the digital insurance infrastructure for Germany's Sparkassen. The full press release is available here.

Why we invested early. When we first backed moneymeets in 2014, personal finance was still largely offline, opaque, and tilted against the consumer. Johannes Cremer and Dieter Fromm had set out to change that: a platform that gave private investors a consolidated view of their financial situation and gave back commissions that had traditionally disappeared into the system. It was an early bet on a thesis we have continued to pursue ever since: that transparency and digital access would reshape financial services from the ground up.
Why this exit matters. Few outcomes validate a thesis as cleanly as the one unfolding here. moneymeets is not being absorbed as a side acquisition, but moving into a strategically central role within one of Germany's largest insurance groups and the Sparkassen ecosystem. As the Provinzial Group puts it:
Our goal is to provide an optimal long-term portfolio for our customers and the Sparkassen. We are continuously developing our digital offering, including through the use of artificial intelligence, while at the same time building a hybrid advisory model in which personal, telephone and digital services are closely interlinked.
That is the context into which moneymeets now steps – and it is a strong one.
What's next. For us, this moment closes a long chapter and opens a new one for the team. We are proud to have accompanied moneymeets on this journey and congratulate Johannes, Dieter and everyone who helped build the company over the past decade. Exits like this are a reminder of why we do what we do: backing founders early, staying patient, and seeing a thesis through to the moment it becomes self-evident.
