€8.5 million Series A funding for Gardia's mobile emergency call system for seniors
Soest, 5 February 2026 – HealthTech startup Gardia has successfully completed a €8.5 million Series A financing round for its mobile emergency call system. European venture capital investor Peak led the round, with participation from Amberra, the corporate venturing studio of the Cooperative Financial Network, and Butterfly & Elephant, the accelerator of GS1 Germany. Existing investors BonVenture, Dieter von Holtzbrinck Ventures (DvH Ventures) and the Beurer HealthTech Group, as well as business angels, participated again.

A new approach to emergency calls: mobile, suitable for everyday use, and without stigma
Gardia has developed a mobile emergency call system that is specifically tailored to the needs of seniors. At the heart of the solution is an emergency call bracelet with automatic fall detection that works both at home and on the go, independently of a smartphone. The hardware, software, app, and AI algorithm were developed entirely in-house.
"Reliable fall detection requires highly complex and precise technological development. At the same time, we see that many existing emergency call systems are not used in everyday life because they are stigmatising or too complicated. Our goal was therefore to develop a technically excellent solution that people enjoy wearing and that provides reliable assistance in an emergency.”
Gardia has reached a five-digit number of active users in the DACH region, establishing a leading position in the mobile emergency call system market. This growth is driven by high user loyalty and the fact that German health insurance companies fully reimburse the cost.
Demographic change is exacerbating the care gap in old age
In the EU, for example, the number of people over the age of 65 is expected to increase from 97 million to over 110 million within the next ten years. In Germany, for example, 96 per cent of seniors live in private households, and the shortage of skilled nursing staff is becoming increasingly acute.
Around 5.7 million falls occur among seniors over the age of 65 every year, and many are unable to get up or call for help independently. Delayed assistance increases the risk of serious consequential damage and the need for care. Providing a reliable safety net for people living independently will be crucial in alleviating the burden on the healthcare system.
“Gardia addresses a growing social problem with a reliable, everyday product. We were impressed by the fact that Gardia has combined technology, design and user acceptance from the outset to create a scalable solution that enables seniors to live safely and independently."
Strong Partnerships and Clear Expansion Plans
Gardia plans to use the capital from the Series A round to continue growing in the DACH region, expand internationally, and grow its B2B business in the care and healthcare sectors. Gardia's growth will be supported by a partnership with Bosch, which will provide 24/7 customized emergency call support from trained specialists. These specialists will handle emergencies according to individually defined processes, including clear escalation and contact chains.
Through its collaboration with Beurer, a leading international healthy lifestyle product company with a distribution network in more than 100 countries, Gardia will be available through established online and brick-and-mortar sales channels. This will give Gardia a presence in familiar shopping environments for families. Meanwhile, Gardia is developing the next generation of its emergency call system.
